Bio
Marshall (“Mike”) Barnhouse is a pianist, composer, and teacher who has spent his life in service to the people of West Virginia. In every venue Mike has guided others in the beautiful, expressive, and spiritual qualities of musical experience.
Mike began his life as a musician at the age of eight. By the age of ten he was serving as the pianist in his church and performing in recitals and at community and school events, always amazing his listeners with an unusual maturity of style and technique. Throughout his professional career he has performed different genres of music in a variety of venues. He has been an inspiration to the many people who have studied under him privately, in the public schools, and the churches where has served.
Mike currently teaches in his private studio in Hurricane, at Hannan High School (in rural Mason County), and is staff accompanist at St. George Orthodox Cathedral in Charleston. He has published works with Augsburg Fortress Press, GIA Publications, and World Library Publications. These contributions to others’ lives bring him great fulfillment.
Mike currently resides in Hurricane, WV, with his wonderful wife Donna, step-daughter Caitlin, and son Christian Machildren: Carrie, Ryan, and Cheyne.
